GeoPT is a weather app for Portugal. This policy explains what data the app uses and how. The short version: GeoPT does not collect, store, or share your personal data, and it has no accounts, ads, analytics, or tracking.
Information we do not collect
We do not create accounts or ask for your name, email, or any personal identifier.
We do not collect analytics or usage data, and we do not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
We do not track you across apps or websites.
We have no servers that receive or store your personal information.
Location
With your permission, GeoPT uses your device location to identify which Portuguese district you are currently in, so the Warnings feature can notify you when IPMA issues a weather warning for that district, and to show the forecast for your nearest city at the top of the Forecast view.
Your location is used only on your device. It is never transmitted to us or to any third party.
If you enable warning notifications, your most recent coordinates are kept locally so a periodic background check can still match warnings to your district when the app is closed. The check is performed entirely on your device.
Location is optional. You can grant “While Using”, grant “Always”, or deny location entirely in iOS Settings at any time; the app remains usable without it (Lisboa is shown as a fallback in the Forecast view, and warning notifications simply won’t fire).
Notifications
Warning alerts are generated and scheduled locally on your device based on the on-device district match described above. No notification content is sent through our servers.
Your chosen severity threshold (Yellow, Orange, or Red) is stored locally and is not transmitted anywhere.
Weather data
GeoPT retrieves public weather information from third-party providers: IPMA (Instituto Português do Mar e da Atmosfera), the UK Met Office, and EUMETSAT satellite imagery delivered via a Google Cloud Storage bucket. These requests contain only the parameters needed to fetch the public feeds — they never include your location or any personal information.
Those providers have their own privacy practices, which apply to their services.
On-device settings
Your preferences (notification toggle, severity threshold) are stored locally on your device using standard iOS storage. They are not transmitted off the device.
Children
GeoPT is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children.
Your choices
You can change or revoke location and notification permissions at any time in iOS Settings.
Because no personal data is collected or stored off your device, there is no account or server-side data to delete.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new “last updated” date.
