GeoQuake is a real-time earthquake monitoring app. This policy explains what data the app uses and how. The short version: GeoQuake does not collect, store, or share your personal data, and it has no accounts, ads, analytics, or tracking.
Information we do not collect
We do not create accounts or ask for your name, email, or any personal identifier.
We do not collect analytics or usage data, and we do not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
We do not track you across apps or websites.
We have no servers that receive or store your personal information.
Location
With your permission, GeoQuake uses your device location to show nearby earthquakes and to determine whether an earthquake falls within the distance radius and magnitude range you choose.
Your location is used only on your device. It is never transmitted to us or to any third party, and it is not stored beyond the most recent fix needed for these calculations.
If you enable background alerts, GeoQuake requests “Always” location and uses low-power significant-location-change monitoring so it can notify you about nearby earthquakes even when the app is closed. This processing happens entirely on your device.
Location is optional. You can grant “While Using”, grant “Always”, or deny location entirely in iOS Settings at any time; the app remains usable without it (background alerts simply won’t fire).
Notifications
Earthquake alerts are generated and scheduled locally on your device based on the on-device location match described above. No notification content is sent through our servers.
Earthquake data
GeoQuake retrieves public earthquake information from third-party seismic data providers (such as EMSC). These requests contain only the parameters needed to query the public feed — they never include your location or any personal information.
Those providers have their own privacy practices, which apply to their services.
On-device settings
Your preferences (notification radius, magnitude filters, toggles) are stored locally on your device using standard iOS storage. They are not transmitted off the device.
Children
GeoQuake is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children.
Your choices
You can change or revoke location and notification permissions at any time in iOS Settings.
Because no personal data is collected or stored off your device, there is no account or server-side data to delete.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new “last updated” date.
